A consultation with Dr. Mayhew is well worth your time and money. She spends a great deal of one on one time with you educating you on many different aspects of woman's health. Unlike any obgyn appointment I've ever gone to. I left so informed with a new mind state that I already feel, has bettered my life as a woman.

I saw Dr. Mayhew in March for skin itchiness and thought it was something simple. The appointment was easy to make and she seems to be knowledgeable. I asked for charge upfront and she mentioned $200-300. I have very good insurance so I thought everything should be covered. She asked if I had pap test lately and I told her it was done 3-4 months prior with normal result and every year prior.
For some reason, she still did it on me without asking. At the end, I was charged for more than $500 for the office visit. My insurance paid $300 and I still have to paid $200+ since pap test was already covered within 12 month. If you are rich, I guess you wouldn't mind the charge. Also I didn't like the fact she did the pap without asking me and it also caused cramping for me.
In addition, it was much more than she initially quoted me and she didn't offer any explanation. I followed up twice with her afterwards and ask if she could remove the pap charge and she wouldn't respond.

What a relief to have found her! I've been in the US for almost 10 years and had not been able to replace my gynae/GP with someone whose opinions regarding healthcare matched with mine. She is not a one size fits all type of practitioner nor a "dealer" and I cannot stress how important that is to me. I will be going back to her until one of us isn't available anymore :

I recently found out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and my mom was researching places for me to go. We made an appointment and when we showed up she handed us an info sheet for me to fill out. Let me remind you she never informed either of us that we were being charged hourly. she sat in the office basically just trying to sell us her products and me being new and scared to PCOS she didn't seem to care one bit all focused on products she was trying to sell.
The appointment ends and then once she keeps us in there for hours she decides to let us know she is hourly. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. I was in complete shock and can't believe she doesn't address this in the beginning, it's like she is trying to scam. Not only did she waste my time but completely went in circles about the products to make the time go longer for her to make money without us knowing.
I left there with no knowledge of my PCOS and she was completely short and rude when I would ask a question it was like she looked at me as if I was stupid. PLEASE PEOPLE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I could go on and on. she had someone contact me AT WORK. It was unbelievable and she is the most unprofessional doctor I have EVER seen. I will make sure to warn friends and family in the area. If there was an option for negative stars that is where she should be rated.

One of the worst doctors I've ever been too, terrible bedside manners, spoke about inappropriate things (not medically related), and sent me home with herbal and vitamin remedies. She's very unprofessional and treats her receptionist terribly. Also her assistant/aid(?) is incredibly rude. Never again.

Dr. Mayhew. I tend to like things, no-LOVE things that other people don't (food, movies, etc.). Dr. Mayhew is the best OBGYN I have ever seen. She is constantly and continually learning about women's health issues and having flyers available for her patients to educate them on topics such as cancers, sugar, vitamins, etc. She takes the time to thoroughly talk to you about anything you have questions about.
I might have thought she was rough around the edges the first time I saw her but have never had that feeling after subsequent visits. Dr. M is down to earth, friendly, and easy to talk to. Her office staff is efficient and friendly. The decor pleasant. And one of the best things I like is the exam room 'chair' becomes the exam table with a little foot pedal action. Cons: Doesn't take insurance, or at least my insurance.
