This review is for Maura. Perfection! I went to 4 other electrologists with no results. I had only 3 treatments with Maura three years ago and all hair is still gone! No regrowth at all. She is an amazing expert. Thank you so much Maura!

I have mixed feelings about this place. I arrived on the day and time of my appointment and the receptionist told me my appointment was the day after. Although I had confirmed on the phone it's on Wednesday 5th. After checking with the receptionist, I realized my next appointment (a month after) had also been moved to two days after and I was also not informed.

The men secretary is also very sassy, and doesn't say hi, bye, nor thank you. He just yelled at me "you have to fill in a form". But very nice esthetician. Overall I won't go back. I suggest if you want to go that 1) you book an appointment by text so you have written proof of the date, 2) you ignore the sassiness of the front desk

Jona-Ann was so friendly and upbeat and very professional. I highly recommend her for your visit to Nios.

Been trying to get treatment records from this place with no response. I moved home and needed a new therapist - had to start from scratch as I had no historical records to share as my requests have been ignored. Needless to say it has made me question what treatment I undertook at Nios. The electrolysis is totally different at the new place and already extremely effective, significantly cheaper and does not require as frequent visits. The people who work at Nios are very nice, pleasant, but you can't get information when you need it and I can't explain why these services are so different!

This place is amazing! Always the best professional friendly service. I have been Coming here for two years or more and they are consistent with providing you with great service. They offer many discounts that make their services more affordable, and for those who can't afford it at all they offer student Eletrolosis services at 90% off. I could not imagine going anywhere else for my Eletrolosis need.

TLDR Nios left me with scarring, DO NOT GO THERE. Nios was my second electrolysis experience, and my worst. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Before moving to NY I'd had about 2-3 months of treatment so I knew what to expect. My first appointment was fine, so I booked several more. But at the second one I could feel plucking and after each appointment I was left bleeding.

I know to expect some slight scabbing--this was not that. I had a few very large scabs after and a lot of bleeding during the appointment, which I know should not happen. Because Nios is so focused on efficiency (more clients=more money for the owner), I never had a full area treated in one session. I saw very little progress after several treatments.

The worst part is that I have been left with permanent scarring. They'll tell you that some scarring is normal and that it'll fade. But It's been months since my last appointment and my chin still has large patches of scars that haven't gone away. Now I'll have to also have that treated which will cost me more money. I was attracted to Nios initially because of their prices, and while I'm paying more per session now I know that'll end up saving money in the long run since I'm actually seeing progress after 3 sessions.

This place is THE BEST! It's aesthetically appealing Everyone from the front desk receptionist is very friendly their great when it comes to getting you scheduled they are always on top of making sure your experience is smooth. I'm four months in and JonaAnn has been the best she truly connects with her clients providing a great painless experience and overall inviting atmosphere. This place definitely deserves 6 stars great staff great environment great results.

First time visiting facility and as soon as I walked in, not even a hello by Britney or Kim the office workers. After standing up for 5 minutes I took it upon myself to find a seat. Not even a please sit down I got. Atmosphere is cold as ice. The only nice lady was the one attending my son. She even asked me to come in. She has a warmth about her and a nice smile. Would I recommend this place? Nope

I'm not going to lie, my first every Experiance with Nios was not so impressive or inviting, I was brought in And worked on by someone that wasn't very passionate about the work that they had did in my opinion so I immediately assumed that she would not put forth her best efforts on the work she would do on me. Low and behind, that's exactly what happened.

Later on that week or maybe that following week, I was made client to Jessica who is now my personal electrologist and I must tell you, she's a Doll! There is so many things I can say about her but I'll just keep things short and sweet. Even tho In the beginning, things didn't go so well for me, Jessica has been just that awesome to me where she makes up for the small flaws that I have Experienced in the past.

And also, we cannot forget about my Kimmy. She's entirely too sweet and adoring, big ups to her as well. These two individuals makes Nios shine bright like a diamond in my opinion.

I've never done hair removal previously, but I couldn't have a better experience than at Nios. As a trans person preparing for gender-affirming surgery, I have been consistently impressed by the inclusive and affirming nature of the Nios client experience, from staff interactions to pronoun options on paperwork. I am working with Baderia and Maura and they have both been wonderful.

This place! It's been a few days after my first session and I had very minimal swelling or scabbing. I followed directions and three days out my skin is looking awesome! My electrologist, Maura, who is an absolute gem! was super gentle and careful enough to get very hair but was also speedy enough to finish during my session's timeframe.

With her patience, electrolysis was way less painful than laser for me and I'm hoping it works better too. I had a fabulous first experience and look forward to going back and finishing the rest of my hair-free journey! This place deserves 5 stars and all the technicians seem awesome. Go here! You will be satisfied and then some!

Positive: Cleanliness, Quality I was sure to do my research before starting electrolysis. Robin and Jessica are amazing. I suggest trying different techs until you find the right fit. You can't judge a business as a whole off one person. Every time I call or email Kim and Britney go above and beyond to help. Looking forward to reopening!

This was my first time doing Electrolysis and just like everyone else I was expecting it to be beyond painful. Turns out not only wasn't it that bad but my practitioner Maura was also the sweetest person which surely made the experience that much more tolerable. Will definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking to get the hairs out forever!

A prospective client who called in at 6:30 PM and spoke with Britney at your office in regards to a few questions and concerns about some information sent over from the insurance as well as where the status of my referral. And throughout that interaction I received nothing but comparative non-humble behavior on my concerns and continuous interruption by Miss Brittany cutting me off when I was attempting to get clear understanding of what was going on with everything.

And at one point in the conversation I offered to see if I could just call insurance and provide you the additional information that you needed with coverage and everything Miss Brittany out right said no that I need to be patient and wait talking to me as if I was a child and I did not appreciate that. And when I told her that I didn't appreciate her aggressive behavior towards me she started cutting me Off and all the sudden the conversation got disconnected and when I called back she didn't even introduce herself or the clinic and was very combative saying that the lines are very faulty and that you guys do not have good reception in your office that she did not hang up So she already knew that I was going to be calling back because of how she disconnected the car.

So with that being said you've lost a client and I am very unhappy and people like Miss Brittany should not be doing customer service specially when I am new business and this is money in your pocket that you have now lost. I no longer feel respected or like my concerns will be addressed by being a client very uncomfortable interaction and it's not the first time that I've had someone tried to talk to me like a baby when I called in with concerns and inquiries. Continuously cutting me off and telling me that you have other people that you need to attend to as if my car is more of an a annoying to you when I am a valued client was going to be starting services with you it's not the type of impression that you should be providing people who are interested in these kinds of services.

This place is like no other! The staff are friendly and place is always spotless. Robin always goes the extra mile, I thought it was because I was special (jk) but she's like that with client I noticed. It's so organized most of the time even on their rush hours you barely see anyone in the waiting area. As far as the service it's self it speaks for itself. Been going here for years because the journey is a long one but instantly noticed a difference after my first or second time. They can raise or lower the voltage to your comfort and explain how to care for your skin after.

NIos is by far one of the best places that I have been to in regards to hair removal. My Electrologist. Jessica is super sweet and does a fantastic job at making sure that at all my visits, I'm completely comfortable. Big ups to Kim at the front desk too, She Rocks!

I had a wonder experience the staff was great aswell as the workers great job felt very welcoming and the beautiful lady who did my electrolysis was very informative and caring of my needs her name was Ms.Rhonda I’ll see her again next week for my second session!

They are excellent electrologists. This is the place to go for hair removal had experience with Maura and Baderia Popal both are excellent electrologists and beautiful human beings.

NIOS is a welcoming and calming environment. Maura is gentle and explained the procedure and checked that I was ok every step. I had had electrolysis years ago and the end results at NIOS were much better. No skin irritations rashes and was able to use makeup the next day.

I have a really long story of terrible things done by Nios, particularly Lilli. Anyways, I don't have the time to type out my whole story so I'll just leave the most upsetting part: I now have a huge collection of keloid scars where my hair follicles used to be. One bump per follicle. I have a collection of little bumps all over my armpits and toes.

If I flatten out my toes (the way it is when you stand on the ground), you can see a bunch of raised keloid scars even from a considerable distance. I'd rather just have the hair back. At least normal humans have hair. Now it just looks even worse than having hair, because like what the hell are these bumps? Of course, Nios DID NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM warn me that scarring was even remotely possible from such a procedure.

When I reached out to them asking them for advice on how to manage my complications, they avoided all responsibility and tried to pretend that such complications were impossible. My skin used to be completely smooth and I never had any bumps in any of these areas before electrolysis.

I got electrolysis twice at this place, with two different people. The first time was great, effective and not crazy painful. The second time the lady was late, it was the most painful electrolysis I've ever had, and I was more swollen than normal right after. Then I broke out for the next week and a half! I've never broken out from electrolysis before, but this was insanely painful and frustrating, it made me wonder if they had a dirty needle! It's sad because the other lady was fine, but if they have people who do such bad work, I strongly discourage going here!

Very friendly and welcoming! I've been to other electrolysis places where they literally shame you for tweezing (yes I know how bad tweezing is, but still I don't think I should be defending myself while almost in tears) but all staff here is so understanding and nice and I never ever feel uncomfortable there. So easy to book an appointment and convenient to public transportation.

Highly recommend! Note- you really need to commit to getting rid of the hair. Expect to come every other week (or more or less depending on your situation) but you will start to see results eventually!

This place deserves more than 5 stars, ROLANDA is the most efficient and professional electorlogist I've met in my life! She pays attention to details in the areas to be treated. THERE IS A HATE REVIEW regarding her, that is TOTALLY FAKE REVIEW! Kim the front desk manager is the best front desk I've ever met! I've been to a lot of service companies in New York from laser hair removals to nail salons but Kim beats all of their front desk! Professional and friendly! Makes me excited to always visit. She remembers all the name of the clients! Amazing! Worth the money!

I have Rolanda as a technician and she is amazing especially treating an area I’m not comfortable with showing.

I've been going to Nios since December 2017 and have had about 6hrs of electrolysis on my chin/under, upper lip, and parts of cheek (approx six 55min appointments every few weeks). I do not really notice a difference. In fact I initially felt like I was getting hairier bc of the electrolysis and was convinced that my hair was probably being plucked instead of zapped.

But I know I have to be patient, so I'm going to continue with electrolysis. However, I'm not so sure I'm going to continue w Nios. Great things: scheduling, excellent customer service, and friendly staff. Not so great: customer service. The electrologist I was seeing (Tamari) no longer works there -- and I wasn't really given direct confirmation of this when I was rescheduled to meet w a new one.

Instead the staff member who called to confirm my appointment simply shared that my electrologist would not be available for my appointment, but my appointment would still stand as someone would take her shift. Why not tell me she's not coming back at all? This way I could assess if I really want to continue w this spa, and or ask thorough questions about who will be working with me.

I had my 55 minute appointment with the replacement electrologist (Rolanda). She was friendly and courteous and maybe I'd return but, and this is a very big BUT, she by no means completed the job I had been paying for the last few months. After getting home I examined my face a little closer and can see and feel hairs on my jawline, cheeks, chin/under. I'd say about 10% of the job was not finished. I also noticed that she worked at a slower speed than my usual electrologist but I was hoping for the best.

Was not impressed with Nios. Came in for hair removal along my hairline with a Groupon. The waiting room was great (clean bathroom, charging station, etc) and the receptionist offered me water and to hang my jacket. However, the treatment room was not as comfortable. It was completely bare and felt sterile in a bad way. There was nothing on the walls and just a desk with computer and equipment in the corner and a few other pieces of equipment scattered throughout.

The lighting was dim and didn't feel good enough for treatment. The chair they had me lay down in was completely unstable, which they warned me about, but made me feel like I was about to fall off the entire time. It basically allowed me to lay flat but the hinge was broken so it tilted pretty freely in every direction. Very uncomfortable. Regarding the actual treatment, I was never given a mirror to show exactly where I wanted the hair removed, which in retrospect I wish I had asked for because afterwards it was hard to even tell what had been treated and I ended up not seeing permanent results at all, which makes me think they may have just not treated the exact areas I wanted. This was a touch up treatment, so it should have been more noticeable of a difference than the first of 5 or 6, but I saw no change at all.

Located on the 3rd floor in a nice, tall building on 57th street, close to Columbus circle. The inside is nothing special. Typical office look. Everyone is very polite and professional though. A secretary will be sitting at her desk and will greet you right when you walk in. I came for the electrolysis, for my eye brows. I actually found out about them through groupon too, which was an amazing price.

Typically a half hour electrolysis is $72 there (however, that's super steep for electrolysis - yeah right would anyone with value for money and knowledge of typical electrolysis prices pay that), however the Groupon was more than half price, so definitely worth it. Make sure to tip from the original price though. Anyway, my eyebrows look great. I am coming back in 3 weeks again since I ordered the two 30-minute sessions, and as you know, permanent hair removal takes a few extra sessions.

I've had 6 treatments at Nios, 5 of them with Robin, and my final treatment with Maura. After these 6 treatments, I saw absolutely no difference in my hair growth, not even a small change. But I know its a slow process, so I was hanging in there. Anyway, both women were very nice and knowledgeable. However, my session with Maura was a COMPLETE disaster.

She spent the first 15-20 minutes of my 45 minute session trying to figure out the proper setting to use for my hair removal. She only got halfway through the area, because time was up and she had clients waiting. Even though during my sessions with Robin, she would cover the entire area in 45 minutes or less. I tried to schedule another session with Robin the same week, but she was all booked.

So I looked elsewhere for electrolysis treatments. After much searching, I found a place closer to home (in Brooklyn) and almost half the price of Nios! It was only after my session at this new place that I realized that Robin wasn't zapping the hairs properly, and would end up PLUCKING the hair out. I only realized this after going to the new electrologist, who would zap and NEVER pluck out the hairs.

I didn't once feel a hair being pulled from my skin. But with Robin, I ALWAYS felt my hair being plucked from my skin. Sadly, I didn't know any better. After only ONE session at my new electrolysis place, I've noticed a tremendous difference compared with my sessions at Nios. It is safe to say I will NOT be returning to Nios. If I wanted my hair to be plucked I could do so elsewhere for far less money.

I've now had three treatments with Amy and waited to provide a review. I really, really like Nios. It's moderately priced electrolysis and all of the staff I've met have been very pleasant and accommodating. My technician, Amy, is so kind. We have great conversations and she makes sure I am comfortable every step of the way. Most importantly, I've seen results.

As a black woman, with facial hair issues I've tried it all. I've spent over $2,000 on laser and have experienced burn marks and no results because I have highly sensitive skin. I've spent less than 1/4 of that at Nios and I already see fewer hairs growing on my face. I recommend Nios for sure. I haven't had any scarring, and the hair is disappearing. That's a marker of success in my book. I especially recommend Nios if you are a person of color or if you have sensitive skin. It's definitely worth it.

I first came to NIOS because I had purchased a Groupon for 2 one hour electrolysis sessions. I just finished my 2nd one yesterday and I will continue going here because the experience was so pleasant. I had never had electrolysis before but both ladies that helped me were very friendly and made sure I was comfortable during each of the appointments.

They work at a good pace and I was surprised during my first appointment that she had already completed the areas I came in for with time left over to do other areas. (Which is great!) I definitely recommend this place and will be back for sure since I have much to be done lol. I also will continue to book Robin as she was personable and made the time fly by.
